Map of Manhattan - Ingenious!
UrbanMapping has created one of the most ingenious maps that I have seen. Their Dynamap of Manhattan provides three different maps on a single surface - a street map, a subway map and a neighborhoods & landmarks map. The map that you see is determined by the angle of viewing.

GPS Use in Suspect Tracking
The use of GPS in tracking the movements of suspects is being tested in the courts. Attaching a GPS device to a car for the purpose of monitoring a suspect has frequently been done without court approval. Cases are now being challenged because tracking the whereabouts of a person could be considered an intrusion of privacy.

GPS and the Future of Transportation
Jeffrey N. Shane, Under Secretary for Policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation gave a speech titled "GPS and the Future of Transportation" at the Institute of Navigation - GNSS 2004 Conference, Long Beach, California, September 21, 2004. Although much of the speech is off-topic it includes important perspectives on GPS in land, sea and air transportation from a high level person in US Government.

Here's one of the most ingenious mapping websites that I have seen. It starts with a USA map and zooms in as you type the digits of a zip code. If you want to know where all of the post offices are that have a zip code beginning with a "3" type that in as the first digit and the region will be highlighted.

GPS Data for Speeding Ticket Appeal
Geoff Wilson was cited for speeding but used data from his GPS to appeal the ticket. The data showed that he was not travelling as fast reported by the officer who pulled him over.
